Athena Institute of Health Sciences organized a farewell program for Vice Principal Rev Sr Aileen Mathias and welcomed the new Vice Principal Prof Mrs Sunitha Claudia Lobo on 2 nd May 2024, 11 a.m. at the college auditorium. The dignitaries present for the program were our Chairman Mr R S Shettian, Secretary Mrs Asha Shettian, Trustee Dr Ashith Shettian, Principal Athena Institute of Health Sciences, Rev Sr Deepa Peter, Principal Athena Institute of Allied Health Sciences Dr Nandini M, Vice Principal Rev Sr Aileen Mathias and the newly appointed Vice Principal Prof Mrs Sunitha Claudia Lobo.The program began with a meaningful prayer service by the nursing faculty. Dr. Nandini M welcomed the gathering with her warm words. The students expressed their emotions and sentiments with farewell songs and a short video presentation. Prof Mrs Hemalatha G, on behalf of all the faculty shared an expression of farewell to Sr Aileen by recollecting her contribution and various events where she played a vital part. Ms Ameesha, student representative of the SNA expressed her gratitude towards Sr Aileen on behalf of all the students.Principal Sr Deepa Peter also spoke on the occasion and stressed on how Sr Aileen has brought about changes within the institution and in students too. Our chairman Mr R S Shettian addressed the gathering and mentioned the contribution of Sr Aileen Mathias to the Institution and also welcomed the new Vice Principal Prof Mrs Sunitha Claudia Lobo and wished her good luck with the new responsibilities she is going to take up in the upcoming days.
The program included the dignitaries honouring Sr Aileen Mathias for her three years of extensive service to the institution, following which the institution also welcomed the new Vice Principal Prof Mrs Sunitha Claudia Lobo by offering a bouquet.Sr Aileen Mathias shared her experience of being in the institution and conveyed her best wishes to everyone.
The new Vice Principal Prof Mrs Sunitha Claudia Lobo also spoke on the occasion thanking the management for entrusting her with the new role and asked everyone for their cooperation in the upcoming days to work towards the progress of the Institution. Graduation Ceremony of Athena Institute of Health Sciences was held on 20.03.2024 at 4.00 pm in “Town Hall” Mangalore.
The program was initiated with grandiose procession of the graduates accompanied by the college band playing to the tunes of congratulations and salutation with the magnificent honor at the entrance of town hall.

There were 34 rank holders and other prize winners in various academic, sports and cultural activities were awarded. 29 GNM Diploma holders, 75 B.Sc. Nursing, 6 P.B.B.Sc Nursing, 3 M.Sc. Nursing, and 17 Allied Health B.Sc. graduates; total 130 graduates received their degree certificates.

Principal Rev. Freshers day was celebrated at Athena College of Nursing on January 13 th . It heralds the arrival of the new B.Sc. (N), GNM(N),PB B.Sc.(N),Allied health sciences batches of 2022 into the Athena family. The theme for the day was ‘Gradito’-23 means welcoming the new faces, which signifies the platform provided by the college to the new batches to express their creativity, talents and imagination in various fields.
The programme was convened at the Athena college Auditorium, where it began with a prayer song. Ms.Josna Shajan, II B.Sc. (N) welcomed the gathering.
The entertainment started off with a semi classical dance , I st B.Sc. (N) portraying the culture of South India. The show continued with melodious group songs by B.Sc. and GNM batches followed by the ‘Oppana’, a popular form of social entertainment among the mappila community of Kerala by the students of allied health science.
Students of B.Sc. (N) enacted a mime show based on the problems faced by the girl child .Solo dances, fusion dances and variety entertainments were performed by the students.
Sr. Deepa Peter, Principal Athena Institute of Health Sciences then addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to imbibe the culture and discipline of the institution.
The winners of the college level drawing competition on portrait of Swami Vivekananda held on the occasion of national Youth Day -2023 were announced .The first place was bagged by Ms. Kavita, I st year GNM.Ms. Sandra Eliza, IV th year B.Sc.(N) student proposed the vote of thanks .The programme came to the end by singing the college anthem.

On the completion of 25 years of meritorious service to the people, the Athena Hospital celebrated its silver jubilee with great pomp and circumstance.
To mark the silver jubilee celebration of Athena Hospital a meaningful prayer service was held on 30/03/2022 at 10:00 AM in Athena Hospital auditorium which was devoutly led by Sr. Aileen Mathias and team. The Pastors Rev. Prabhu Raj and Rev. Adrian Deepak read the Bible passages, preached and prayed for the blessings for the future mission.
Later the event commenced with the welcome speech by Mr. R.S. Shettian, Chairman. A memorable journey of 25 years of Athena Hospital was displayed through a short documentary. Then the honouring people who have served the Athena Hospital for more than 20 years and who made a great impact in the Institution was done. Later, as a token of gratitude, Mr. R.S. Shettian Chairman of Athena Hospital was honoured by Mr. Jagadish, Mrs. Mable Cabral and Mr. Shankar. The event was embarked by message delivered by Mr. Pankaj Gilbert Coasta President of Dhakha Credit Co-operative Society. There was a moment that really added charm to the atmosphere with a sense of achievement with the graduands receiving the certificates from the Dignitaries and partaking in the oath to serve and protect their profession. Tassels turned to right, the graduates were born.
Rev Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho quoted the parable of Good Samaritan and advised the graduates to go and do good likewise. Dr. G G Laxman Prabhu congratulated the institute on its completion of glorious 25 years and Dr. Bindhu Mathew suggested the graduates to never compromise quality of care and to be ambassadors of care. Mr. R S Shettian expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed towards the silver jubilee and congratulated the graduates. Dr. Ashith Shettian, trustee Athena Institute of Health Sciences briefed us about the milestones achieved in the past 25 years. The dignitaries released the college magazine ‘Athespitha’.
On behalf of all graduates, Ms. Angel Benny voiced the nostalgic feelings of their days in the college and expressed how the teachers have moulded them for their better growth.
The best outgoing students as well as students who have excelled in various academic activities were awarded and blessed during the occasion. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Mrs. Sunitha Lobo HOD department of Community Health Nursing. 371 graduates with their parents attended the ceremony to celebrate their success which had the graduates from batches of 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21. There was thunderous applause when the rank holders Mr. Suhain Bin Assainar, Ms. Alty Lyngdoh, Ms. Midhila Raj and Ms. Santhra S. from B.Sc. Renal Dialysis Technology, Ms. Reshmamol K R from B.Sc. Nursing & Sr. Annet K Tom from M.Sc. Nursing received Highest Awards. There were 50 ranks in Renal Dialysis Technology course and 141 ranks in nursing courses.
Mrs. Asha Shettian, Secretary Athena Institute of Health Sciences was also present on the dais. The presence of the management committee, teaching and non teaching staff, students, parents and guardians enhanced the beauty of the occasion. The programme commenced with the prayer service led by Mrs. Lavita Dsouza, Assistant Lecturer and her team. Sr. Aileen Mathias Vice Principal welcomed the gathering which was followed by lamp lighting that marked the inauguration of the course.
Sr. Deepa Peter , principal Athena college of nursing briefed about the course and she focused on quality education and overall development of the students. Freshers of various batches were introduced to the audience by Professor Sunitha Lobo.

Lamp Lighting and oath taking ceremony for the 18th batch of GNM and 17th Batch of B.Sc Nursing students of Athena Institute of Health Sciences was held on 10th March 2021 at college auditorium.

Athena Institute of Health Sciences conducted Annual Cultural & Sports Competitions from 11th December 2019 to 18th December 2019.
Students were given ample opportunity to compete in 22 literary, fine arts and cultural competitions and 12 sports competitions. Chief Guest for the annual sports day was Dr. Ashith Shettian.
